Downtown Ann Arbor will be hopping this Sunday as the annual Taste of Ann Arbor draws food lovers, tourists, and hungry residents into the city streets. The outdoor festival will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor. More than thirty area restaurants and eateries will offer small tastes of their dining delights, sort of a progressive dinner all the way through Ann Arbor’s eclectic and very tasty food scene. Food tickets are fifty cents each, and can be purchased at the event.
This popular event is a great reason to head downtown- fit a workout in beforehand by riding or biking downtown from your Ann Arbor home or downtown Ann Arbor condominium. There’s plenty of bike parking downtown, and it will save you from finding a parking spot for your car.
Taste of Ann Arbor is a melting pot of flavors from around the world- from fire crackle shrimp to watermelon soup to jumbo deep fried asparagus, you’re sure to find something (or 38 different somethings) to tempt your taste buds. This festival is a great way to sample foods from area restaurants without visiting each and every one. Stock up on tickets and enjoy a progressive meal from one end of Main Street to the other. You’ll find tastes from Greece, India, Ireland, Cuba, Italy, and the Middle East.
Desserts will make a star appearance as well. Enjoy handmade chocolate treats from Schakolad, delectable cupcakes from The Cupcake Station, and chocolates from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, among other sweet eats.
Live music will make the festivities into a party. Musicians will play from 11:30 until 2 p.m., when the Taste of Ann Arbor awards presentation will name the “top tastes” at the event. The music resumes at 2:35, and at 3:35, the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre presents “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Laith Al-Saadi finishes out the musical entertainment with a set from 3:50- 5 p.m.
The Ann Arbor Public Library will host a special library activity area on Liberty Street between Main and Fourth from 1-5 p.m., and the Relax Station will be giving chair massages.
