Vernon Downs neighborhood is located on the west side of Ann Arbor north off of Scio Church Rd and west of 7th street.  Vernon Downs and adjacent Sunnyside and Wuerth subdivisions consist mostly of solid will built 1950's and 1960's brick three bedroom ranches along with a some two story homes.  The subdivision was plated and mostly built by George V.  Airey, George V. Airey Building Company  in the late 1950's

Vernon Downs appeals to home buyers looking to be close to downtown but can not find affordable maintained housing in the old westside at reasonable prices. - its an easy 2 mile walk or drive to downtown Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. 

These all brick homes typically have hardwood floors, large full basements, some have cove plaster ceilings.  You will find quiet streets with mature trees. City lots in Vernon Downs are large enough for family activities, gardening and allow fences for pets. 

School age children attend Ann Arbor Schools - Dicken Elementary, Slauson Middle and Pioneer High School.
