The University of Michigan Medical District is a community surrounding the University of Michigan Hospital. Medical and post graduate students, attending physicians, researchers, and hospital staff often look to the U of M Med District for a place of residence.
Living without a car is quite easy to do here as there are plenty of living options as well as avocations and entertainment within walking and biking distances. The AATA (Ann Arbor Transportation Authority) and university bus stops are located throughout the district. Located in the district is the Amtrak train station on Depot St.

Avocations and Entertainment
Relax or maintain your physical exercise in the U of M Med District's green landscape:
- Fuller Park: equipped with a playground, soccer fields, and a pool with a water slide.
- Mitchell Field: a field for baseball/softball, soccer, Frisbee, and flag football.
- Nicholas Arboretum: trails along the river and into woods and fields for running, walking, or eating lunch outside.
- Argo Pond and Gallup Park: Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, or tubing on a river run from Argo to Gallup Park. Once at Gallup, have a picnic and afterwards explore the trails.
For entertainment, proceed to downtown Ann Arbor to go to the many restaurants, bars, shops, theaters, comedy clubs, music halls, and art studios. Ann Arbor businesses are mostly local mixed with franchises.
In and around the Med District, choices are in abundance when it comes to dining out. Walk up to Catherine St. to enjoy breakfast at Angelos or walk down to Depot St. to for lunch or dinner at the Gandy Dancer.
Toward the north on Broadway, get to know the locals at the Northside Grill. Go further north as Broadway turns to Plymouth Rd. and there will be shopping plazas with fast food, cafes, grocery stores, banks, and shops.
Head west to Kerrytown to try a variety of eateries, including the famous sandwiches at Zingerman's. Go further west to State St. and choices for dining out begin at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar and Sava's restaurant.
